Life Cycle Diagrams – What Do They Need?
Life Cycle Diagrams: What’s Good? from brette lockyer on Vimeo.
Before we created our own lifecycle diagrams, we looked at some from the Internet. Which diagrams were easy to understand? What features did they need to make them more informative?
Following suggestions from the whole class, a group of students used the ipad app ExplainEverything to comment on the diagrams from the Internet. Thanks Monique, Joe, Lucas, Blake and Isabella.
What features do you think a good lifecycle diagram should have?
What features did you remember to put in your own lifecycle diagram? Make a comment on how these features help the reader.
INTERVIEW WITH A READER – LUCAS
William’s mum Gail interviews Lucas to find out the secrets of his excellent progress in reading this term. Lucas tells us that it is due to his regular practice at home with his parents, his persistence, and choosing the right book.
What are your tips for success with reading? Leave your comments here.
BLOCKBUSTER
As part of our inquiry into shops and money, we developed our thinking around a photo of a Blockbuster Video store which was closing down. After questions and discussion, we used drama to deepen our thinking: who might be affected by the closure and what is their viewpoint?
Brodie, Antonio, Daniel, Lucas, Tara, Jai, Monique, William, Dion, Shoma, Joshua, Madison, Zoe and Jema star in our movie.
See if you can you spot these characters: the man person with no car, the Blockbuster store owner, the manager of K-Mart, the businessman in a hurry, the Blockbuster worker, the bank manager, the fashion store guy, the teenager, the grandparents, and the potato chip delivery guys.
THINKING CHALLENGE: Leave a comment based on: “I used to think … but now I think…” about video shops, shops closing, or other issues that you have noticed in our activity.
Goggles and Spike Talk About Buildings
Antonio, Dion and Lucas have made a great movie where Goggles and Spike discuss whether an old building should be kept or knocked down.
Can you think of anything else they could have said?
GOGGLES AND SPIKE – 500 DAYS
Spike told Goggles: “My birthday is in 500 day’s time.”
Goggles replied “no, it can’t be.”
Who is right? Goggles and Spike get help from their friends Claws, Fang and Brainiac to help them work out the answer to the problem.
Shoma, Lucas, Brodie and Dion have used many maths facts to create this movie. Can you spot them? They have also put in an error about one of the facts about the end of the movie to make sure you are paying attention: do you know which one it is?
